In designing the studio for Kristjana Williams we wanted to create both a functional and yet creative space to work in. It was important from the start that the Studio reflect and showcase Kristjana’s work so we went about designing creative ways to display her various collections.
As Kristjana’s work is very colourful and intricately detailed, it made sense to keep the palette light and bright so that her work would pop against a neutral backdrop so we kept the walls white and installed a laminate wood floor with a grey tone to create a clean backdrop.
The extended gallery shelf was created to showcase her extra large pieces of prints and was designed with the ability to easily change the work as and when required, while the cork wall was created to serve as an oversized moodboard while also bringing a natural warmth into the space.
We used little tricks to create both display and storage. The cushion display for example, was created by using Ikea shower wire and then had hooks attached to the cushions while the metal grills are hung on a bike storage solution, allowing for additional light storage and also for mobiles to be hung off when Kristjana is designing window displays for her commercial clients.
